How does an inflatable child car seat work
and what age is it suitable for?
The HyFive can be easily installed in the vehicle. The included bag serves as a base for the child car seat to protect car seat covers made of delicate materials. It’s unfolded and attached to the top of the vehicle headrest. The automatic pump is also already included in the delivery. With it, the seat can be inflated effortlessly. An LED display shows the air status in the seat, so you always know when air needs to be added. The child car seat is positioned rear-facing, as this is the safest position. Then it’s secured with the vehicle belt. Now the seat is installed and just needs to be individually adjusted to your child. The height of the neck support and shoulder straps is adjustable so they fit your child’s measurements exactly.
Flexible, Adjustable, and Long-Lasting
Children grow very quickly, which is why regular child car seats need to be replaced several times. However, the HyFive rear-facing car seat can accompany your children continuously for up to five years. It combines size groups 0/1 and, thanks to its flexible fit, is suitable for children from 0 to 5 years, or up to 18 kg and 105 cm in height (including clothing and shoes).
Removal works just as effortlessly as installation. The quick-release button on the underside of the seat ensures rapid air release. The deflated seat is then folded up and stored in the transport bag, which can also serve as a seat protector directly under the seat. The HyFive seat covers are quick to remove and washable. They’re made from pollutant-free materials, as the safety and health of the next generation are important to us.
While conventional child car seats often weigh up to 15 kg, the HyFive inflatable child car seat weighs only 4.9 kg. It’s therefore a practical portable companion for everyday use and the ideal city and world travel child car seat.

How safe is an inflatable child car seat?
The most important thing about a child car seat is safety. Our priority in innovation is the protection of little passengers – with the greatest possible flexibility and quality of the product. The innovative concept of the inflatable child car seat enables space-saving storage and easy transport – without having to compromise on the highest safety standards.
The HyFive is approved according to UN ECE R44/04. The approval is the guarantee that the child car seat meets all legal requirements. For vacations, the HyFive is approved worldwide. So you can take it anywhere. If you want to emigrate, however, you need to check the local regulations. The General German Automobile Club (ADAC) tests child car seats annually together with the ÖAMTC, the TCS, and Stiftung Warentest – and very thoroughly. In May 2019, we received an overall grade of 2.6 and a safety grade of 1.9. In addition, the HyFive has TÜV approval for use in aircraft (the use of the nachfolger® travel kit is recommended).
The HyFive is a rear-facing car seat, meaning a child car seat that is mounted backward, against the direction of travel, in the car. Sitting with your back to the direction of travel reduces the risk of cervical spine injury in an accident. When sitting facing forward, the sudden forward movement in a frontal collision would put a lot of strain on the child’s sensitive head and neck. That’s why we chose the safest orientation – against the direction of travel.
The SAS technology (Side Air Suspension) ensures that your child is protected as if by an airbag. This means optimal protection in a side crash. No additional attachments are necessary, so even in compact cars, 3 child car seats fit side by side. The Top Tether – an additional restraint strap at the top of the child car seat – helps reduce forward head movement in a frontal crash.
Easy Use and Competent Service
If an accident occurs, the child car seat may need to be replaced. Because its function could have been compromised. That’s why we inspect and test seats, even if there were only very minor accidents, at our nachfolger® service center in Vienna, so you can continue to travel safely.
