Safety is the most important aspect of a kids car seat. We are passionate at working to fine-tune that aspect, always with the aim of improvement. Competent experts in leading laboratories all around the world test the results. They are strict and uncompromising.
The result: A safty rating of 1.9 in German ADAC consumer test (already in May 2019), a certification in accordance with the UN ECE R44/04 standard and according to the latest UN ECE R129/4 as well as TÜV approval for use in aircraft and above all, one of the safest kids car seats in the world.

It’s always been our philosophy to keep upgrading what has already been established by incorporating new ideas and technologies and developing innovative safety concepts. For example with the HyFive, we picked up on the trend of combining several classes of kids car seats into a single product.
It also uses our very own SAS technology, which combines with its exceptional design to create an unmistakable game-changer. In other words, we’re very proud of the fact that we’ve created something that questions all previous products or even surpasses them.
The nachfolger HyFive has an Air Control System (ACS) and a Side-Air-Suspension (SAS) System, which join forces to form the intelligent part of the seat.
Safety center
This guarantees that the car seat complies with legal requirements. The UN ECE approval of our seats includes, among other things, frontal-, rear-impact and rollover tests. The HyFive (HY5) has also been tested for use with only the lap belt.
The current European standard is UN ECE R129, which we passed with the nachfolger HyFive CITY R129 (without any technical modifications). Since 2025, we have therefore been permitted to market the seat without any restrictions inside the EU.
The nachfolger HyFive WORLD and HyFive CITY (until 2024), as well as older models like the HY5 and the HY5.1TT, are still approved according to UN ECE R44/04 and will continue to be used worldwide (including in the EU) without any restrictions.
From September 2024, sales of UN ECE R44 seats was prohibited inside EU. This means that these R44 seats are still perfectly safe, but they are no longer available for new purchase in the EU. They can still be offered for rent, for example; this is permissible. When used, the seats still comply with current safety standards.
The nachfolger HyFive CITY is approved for category ISO/R3 in almost all vehicles according to UN ECE R129 (previously even UNIVERSAL according to UN-ECE R44/04) and bears the corresponding approval label. The HyFive CITY child car seat can therefore be used in all vehicles equipped with a 3-point seat belt or lap belt and listed in the current vehicle compatibility list.
Installation using the lap belt is primarily intended for use in airplanes, buses, or trains, but is also suitable for older vehicles or those converted for travel. The Top Tether connection is important but only necessary for category M1 vehicles, i.e., standard passenger cars. A Top Tether is not required in airplanes, trucks, buses, or trains. If your car is not on the vehicle compatibility list, we will gladly check it for you on a case-by-case basis. However, we can say in advance that, this only applies to very, very sporty vehicles (Ferraris, Porsche GT3, Audi RS models – basically all vehicles with deep bucket seats). In normal, family-friendly vehicles, there is absolutely no problem. We would, of course, appreciate your feedback on the installation, and we would be happy to add your car to the list so that other parents can get a better idea of the situation.
The SAS system was originally developed for the hard German ADAC lateral impact safety test and is now also mandatory for UN ECE R129. It ensures excellent side-impact crash test results and prevents serious head injuries. Children’s heads require special protection, because they are arguably the most sensitive and vulnerable area. With its side airbags, the HyFive eliminates the need for additional components, allowing three seats to fit side-by-side on the rear bench, even in compact cars.
The three-point belt system in the car offers maximum safety for your child and allows for quick and easy installation. The HyFive is also approved for use with a lap belt, making it suitable for use on airplanes, buses, or trains.
The nachfolger HyFive is easily installed using the vehicle’s seat belt and a top tether strap (if available).
The additional strap, also known as the “Top Tether”, is located at the top of the child seat. This reduces forward head movement in a frontal collision in normal passenger cars. Buses, trains, and airplanes do not have top tether anchor points, so its use is unnecessary there.
The safest place for children is behind the front seats. The seatbelts must be strapped in a way that is right for the kids car seat. A proper vehicle seat with a three-point harness is necessary. Systems with only lap belts are not suitable. The seat can be mounted at the front, but the passenger seat airbag must be deactivated!!!
